I’ll admit in my opinion the research part of the web design process can be booring. And it also can take up some time. However nether has to be the case!
Make your research process fun with this simple platform: Pinterest.
Blame it on getting older or simply having too much on my mind but I had been seriously sleeping on Pinterest.
Sure I hopped on there when I needed to find a recipe to a dish I wanted to make or pin things pertaining to my personal life.
But never for my business.
I was stressing over how to get inspiration for a web design project I had at the time and someone mentioned to me that I should try using it.
This is when I saw what I’d been missing.
Along with using Google for information about your client competitors, their target audience, etc tying in visuals from Pinterest into the process will give you a cohesion overview.
You can do a search for web design trends that relate to your client industry. This way you can view how similar top ranking businesses have their design structured.
Of course, using Pinterest to research can spark inspiration and ideas that will fit well with the goals of your client website.
Creating a board dedicated to one particular client will help keep things organized because you can add and remove pins that don’t apply.
Just like you would when looking for inspiration on designing logos and other graphic materials.
After a few web design projects, you’ll find the research process will get easier and quicker so just keep at it. I loved looking at all the beautiful designs wishing I had the skills to recreate them.
But you do so have fun with it!
